چکیده
Abstract Micron-scale soft materials are finding a wide range of applications in bioengineering and molecular medicine, while also increasingly emerging as useful components for consumer products. The mechanical characterization such microscale objects is conventionally performed with techniques atomic force microscopy or micropipette aspiration that measure the local properties micron scale serial manner. To permit scalable global objects, we developed describe here microfluidic platform can be used performing parallelized integrated measurements shear modulus individual particles. We demonstrate effectiveness this approach by characterizing multiple protein microgels parallel, show obtained values good agreement conventional measurements. This allows situ deformable micron-scale particles, builds on single-layer soft-photolithography fabrication, making measurement system readily adaptable potential applications. Graphical

Digital microfluidics using soft lithography.
Although microfluidic chips have demonstrated basic functionality for single applications, performing varied and complex experiments on a single device is still technically challenging. While many groups have implemented control software to drive the pumps, valves, and electrodes used to manipulate fluids in microfluidic devices, a new level of programmability is needed for end users to orchest...

متن کاملNon-linear micromechanics of soft tissues.
Microstructure-based constitutive models have been adopted in recent studies of non-linear mechanical properties of biological soft tissues. These models provide more accurate predictions of the overall mechanical responses of tissues than phenomenological approaches. Based on standard approximations in non-linear mechanics, we classified the microstructural models into three categories: (1) un...
متن کاملMicromechanics of Composite Materials Governed by Vector Constitutive Laws
The high-fidelity generalized method of cells micromechanics theory has been extended for the prediction of the effective property tensor and the corresponding local field distributions for composites whose constituents are governed by vector constitutive laws. As shown, the shear analogy, which can predict effective transverse properties, is not valid in the general three-dimensional case. Con...
متن کاملInfluence of polydispersity on micromechanics of granular materials.
We study the effect of polydispersity on the macroscopic physical properties of granular packings in two and three dimensions. A mean-field approach is developed to approximate the macroscale quantities as functions of the microscopic ones. We show that the trace of the fabric and stress tensors are proportional to the mean packing properties (e.g., packing fraction, average coordination number...
